Eagle Lectern

Symbolizing that ‘the Word of God read here will soar like an eagle going forth to all the people’ this hand-carved mahogany Eagle Lectern was given by Mrs. James Edwin Thompson (Eleanor Roek 1875-1943) in 1904 to the glory of God and in loving memory of her parents John Frederick Roek (1926-1897) and Kate Waters, his wife (1843-1891).

Note: Eagle lecterns are very popular in Anglican churches, although wooden ones are rare. Usually they are made of a metal, such as copper or brass.
